As an active photographer with a beautiful Model Dave was always looking for moments to photograph his radiant girlfriend Sonia. Sonia was the perfect ying to his yang as they constantly finished each others sentences, explored for the best restaurants around the country hand in hand and always had the other one laughing.
Dave wanted to take a few pictures of the two of them before they headed over to a friend’s dinner party. A blessing and a curse in her eyes – wonderful because of Dave they have so many wonderful photographs throughout their relationship, but also a curse because every moment in Dave’s eyes was a photo moment. Yet she loved his excitement for life and capturing every moment, his kind heart as he put others needs before his own and his love for her so Sonia gave into Dave and went along with his whim.
As they started driving Sonia quickly realized that they were driving in the wrong direction, she began to wonder what was happening and with the whimsical smile on Dave’s face she knew he had something up his sleeve. As they parked the car at Pleasant Valley Park Dave asked Sonia to take a stroll with him. Although it was a cold dark night she agreed and held his hand along the way.
The park was lit up with a winding trail of tiki torches that illuminated the beautiful night. And as they stopped at each tiki torch Sonia quickly realized what was happening and that at every torch was a memory that they shared, from dance practices at the Cultural Youth Group Diwali Show, to memories at UVA to their lives together in Washington DC. Every torch was another tear filled joyous memory that they shared together. Every Tiki Torch and every memory making the night more and more magical – and as Sonia was engulfed in the memories their tiki led adventure brought them to a beautifully decorated Gazebo. As they approached Dave got down on one knee and asked Sonia to spend the rest of her life with him. With tears of joy and a smile from ear to ear she said yes – holding him tight and promising to never let go.
Sonia and Dave’s engagement Session took place in Georgetown along the waterfront and forgotten flower filled paths. We concluded the session at the National Capitol getting beautiful evening pictures of the wonderful couple.
