Purpose of the Program
Wedding programs are more than simply keepsake from your event. Although that is often part of its purpose, wedding programs are also important because they honor everyone who has participated in the wedding and because they provide you with a way of conveying information to the guests.
Wedding programs, while not necessary can add elegance to your wedding ceremony. You may want to have wedding programs designed if your wedding will be very long (so guests are prepared to sit through an extended ceremony) or very large (so guests have some idea of who the bridesmaids and groomsmen are).
Wedding programs can come in various designs, shapes and colors! Trifold wedding programs offer plenty of space for text in a small package. The cover will typically include you and your fiancé’s names, the date of the wedding, location, and a picture.
Inside, guests should find the order of events and details about your ceremony, such as any readings and prayers recited, the rituals that will take place and of desired, the full text of their personalized vows. If any part of your ceremony – religious or otherwise – will involve inviting guests to participate, make a note of it in your wedding program so your friends and relatives are prepared if the officiant asks them to sing, repeat a passage,
take communion, or stand and kneel
Distributing the Wedding Program to Guests
Ushers can sometimes be utilized to provide wedding programs to guests as they arrive and are seated. If you do not have enough available hands, simply set up a table at the entrance and display the wedding programs there so guests can pick one up as they enter. Alternatively, you could place a program in each seat prior to the arrival of your guests.
Remember, planning ahead will ease your wedding planning process! It’s never too early to begin putting together your program!
