Rakesh wasn’t in the mood to be set up again. He really didn’t want to meet the daughter of a cousins friend of a friend of his mother twice removed. He was enjoying life and wasn’t really trying to “find his soulmate,” yet his mother persisted. She wanted him to settle down, get married and begin his life with his wife. In his mind he had a hundred excuses why he didn’t want to call, why he was happy simply where he was in life; yet his mother knew of a hundred and one reasons to call. So knowing it was a fight he was going to lose he listened and eventually called Rupa.
Soon their short conversations over the phone became evening he looked forward to, sitting down and just talking to her for hours on end about everything under the sun. Phone calls progressed to casual meet-ups which progressed to dating, trips together, the two of them falling in love and a short year later their engagement party.
When we finally had the opportunity to meet Rupa we instantly knew why Rakesh always smiled when he brought her up and why his smile grew even larger when he was thinking about what she would want. Rupa was a beautiful, funny and energetic woman who fit Rakesh perfectly. They finished each others sentences, laughed at each other and were in love. During our engagement session they held each other tight, joked, made funny faces, laughed and simply enjoyed being together hand in hand.
On the day of their engagement party not a thing had changed and I am sure it never will. Their laughter was infectious, their smiles brought joy and everyone loved watching the two of them hand in hand falling even more in love.
