She sat down on her couch with a glass of wine and her phone; nervous, apprehensive and intoxicated with excitement. Venk and Meena had one of their scheduled phone calls and she couldn’t wait. Meena and Venk both knew from their first phone conversation that they had met the person that they were going to spend the rest of their lives with, even though they were over 300 miles apart. Their phone conversations began as a weekly phone call that turned into daily three hour long conversations. Soon after they were e-mailing each other, texting each other and simply calling the other to hear the sound of their voice.
Venk is a kind warm hearted child at heart who loves the outdoors and spoiling Meena. She is beautiful, witty and a perfect balance between diva and tomboy. They talked for hours upon hours sharing intimate details about their lives with each other. She balanced her full time law school course load around their scheduled phone conversations. Their long distance relationship blossomed and soon Venk came down on an almost weekly basis to see Meena. Their dates ranged from dinners at the most exotic DC restaurants, to hiking trips across the county and to hookah sessions at all the local hotspots. Soon their long distance relationship was too much to bear and Venk moved to the Washington D.C. area simply to spend more time with the love of his life (and their dog Link).
Meena and Venk’s traditional South Asian wedding took place at the beautiful Sunset Crest Manor on Chantilly, VA. Meena and Venk love the outdoors, camping and hiking are one of their favorite things to do. That was the primary reason they planned for months for the perfect outdoor ceremony and reception.
Mother nature had other plans. It was a stormy weekend, thunder and lighting galore and then hurricane Irene made landfall. Down trees, powerlines, and flooded streets were common in the affected area. It was difficult to get navigate around the city let alone host a wedding.
Yet the loving families, friends and close relatives of Meena and Venk headed out to Sunset Crest Manor to celebrate the marriage of Meena and Venk. Friends and family pitched in to turn the once outdoor ceremony into a gorgeous barn style wedding. Family and friends packed into the barn and smiled, cheered and congratulated the beautiful couple. The ceremony could not have been more beautiful as the two love birds smiles incessantly, laughed and simply enjoyed knowing that they were moment away from being married.
Once the ceremony was over; family and friends headed over to the manor for a beautiful lunch and rested before the reception. Meena looked stunning in a beautiful teal lengha that made Venk lose his breath and become speechless. Their eyes never left each other as we photographed the two of them alone and then the family formals.
The reception took place in the beautiful barn as well with gorgeous decor designed by family and set-up by friends! Once the speeches were over and the beautiful couple cut the cake; friends and family danced the night away!
