He prepared for weeks, finding the best deli in all of DC for fantastic sandwiches, heading over the Dhruti’s favorite cupcake bakery to get her absolute beloved flavors and simply finding the picture perfect flower bouquet that says “forever.” He planned and prepared, after all he was going to ask the love of his life to marry him, Manik had to make sure everything down to the last morsel was impeccable.
Dhruti and Manik drove out to Burke Lake in Fairfax, Virginia around the beginning of spring under the ruse of a walk through the park. He quickly corralled Dhruti onto a romantic two-person rowboat and he paddled out into the middle of the lake. They laughed, they ate and enjoyed their own little slice of heaven.
As the minutes turned to hours Manik began to realize that this was what he wanted in life, a beautiful, loving and funny wife for all of eternity. And at that moment he asked Dhruti to marry him; as she cried tears of happiness they both left the lake keeping with them their own little slice of heaven.
