To understand Courtney and Damon one must understand the circumstances under which we met this fabulous couple. Damon wrote us a glowing e-mail about how he fell in love with our work on our blog; he would love to have us shoot his wedding but wanted to check our availability. Ohh and he also wanted to meet us on the eve of Christmas Eve (December 23rd). This conversation happened in early November, he needed almost two months before he was able to meet! Not a problem, people are busy, life gets in the way, we happily agreed and went on our way. On the day we were suppose to meet Courtney and Damon, fifteen minutes before to be exact, we get a call from Courtney, hysteric on the phone and cussing traffic all under her breath. She whole heartedly apologized for a good five minutes and told us they were going to be three minutes late. Yes, not thirty minutes, but three minutes late.
To say these two are globetrotting busy bee’s would be an understatement. Yet the one thing they always make time for, the one thing that they always slow down for is their love. They have been living together for four years, and every week, every single week Damon brings Courtney a bouquet of flowers to simply remind her of his love. No strings attached, no “I’m sorry,” just a simple reminder every week of his love for his fiancé. They eat dinner together, talk about their hopes, aspirations, dreams and plans. Even when they are running a million miles an hour they change gears and cherish every moment together.
One of those moments that I was fortunate enough to witness was their engagement session. Like clockwork they held hands, Damon carried Courtney’s jacket and they finished each others stories. We walked around Georgetown, told stories of yesteryears (Courtney went to Georgetown and Damon use to live in DC) and laughed for two hours. We started at the C&O Canal which is essentially a workout path, as joggers breezed by we joked about never working out, Damon smoking before working out and well Damon smoking during the workout. We walked through Georgetown, did a little window shopping and finally were able to get some magnificent pictures on Georgetown Campus.
Courtney and Damon it was a pleasure photographing your engagement session and we are looking forward to the wedding!
