Karla and Tim | Engagement Party at The Old Hickory Steak House

Karla adamantly apologized for being late, Tim apologized for his tuxedo taking longer than expected to put on, yet no one cared. They saw the glow in their eyes, the love they had for each other, the stolen looks, the inside jokes they shared amongst each other and everyone was simply happy. Happy that Karla found the man of her dreams, and content knowing Tim would do everything in his power to keep his bride to be smiling forever.

Tim and Karla’s Engagement Party took place at the Gaylord Hotel’s Old Hickory Steak House at the National Harbor. As their guests walked in, Karla and Tim opened private bottles of wine from their personal collections, poured their guests glass after glass, fed them succulent steak, crab cakes and a host of other goodness to eat all night long. As the evening drew to a close, Karla and Tim gave all those who cherished handpicked cigars.

Throughout the night Karla and Tim told stories of their dates, their two beautiful dogs, joked about Tim’s ability to steal sunglasses and cigarettes from bar patrons and talked about their future. On a picturesque night these two hosted a party people will never forget.

Karla and Tim, we wish you the best and cannot wait until your wedding.

When we began batting around locations with Preethi and Mani; thinking about a unique Engagement Session location, the glorious National Harbor came to mind for their picturesque harbor, the gorgeous Gaylord Hotel and for the plethora of restaurants! Preethi wore an elegant designer peach colored sari detailed with gorgeous golden embroidery that sparked wonderfully in the evening sunlight. Everything from her delicate jewelry to her fabulous shoes matched her sari perfectly. What made her Engagement Session ensemble even more meaningful was that everything was hand-picked by Preethi’s sister. Preethi, your sister has a fantastic sense of style!

When Preethi asked her fiancé to wear a tie to match her sari things got a bit complicated. Like many men, Mani despised the mall. Despite his feelings, Mani sauntered into Nordstrom to ensure a happy bride and set off on a mission to find the perfect tie. After picking up two ties he thought matched perfectly to Preethi’s sari, he snapped pictures of both ties and sent them to Preethi so she could make the final decision. To her horror she was quickly reminded that her fiance like most men had no idea what the color peach actually is. Most men do not know anything beyond the ROYGBV we learn as children-to most men peach might as well be blue. Preethi looked at the first image of a pink tie and then a second of an orange tie, neither were peach! With the help of her sister, Preethi was able to quickly ameliorate the situation and remotely assisted Mani to find the perfect peach colored tie (If you still don’t know what peach looks like…look at the pictures).

Mani and Preethi’s Photographick Engagement Session took place at the National Harbor and the Gaylord Hotel. Under the beautiful D.C. sunset Preethi’s glamorous sari sparkled almost as much a Mani’s contagious smile. We love photographing this couple because they are fun, carefree and easy going. Despite wearing a heavy sari and open toe shoes, Preethi happily pranced in the sand and marched up and down a path of rocks. This engagement session was so much fun! Mani and Preethi, we cannot wait until your wedding events begin!

You know that scene from the romance novels when the soon to be lovers cross paths several times in life, sometimes not even knowing that that they’re standing in the same scene? They might randomly meet in distant cities while traveling with friends, attend the same parties, even work in the same building in one of the busiest cities on the East Coast-yet they remain strangers to one other. That is until one day they finally noticed one another, as if waking up from a hazy dream, things were finally crystal clear. This is their story, the love story of Vikas and Tara.

Vikas and Tara initially met in Miami while both were separately vacationing with friends. After the Miami trip they exchanged friendly e-mails, but no romance ensued. Their paths continued to cross as they returned to their normal lives in DC but over the years they slowly drifted apart. Finally almost three years after their initial meeting in Miami, Tara started a new job in Maryland. And as fate has it, Vikas happened to work in the same exact building as well. After bumping into each other they begin scheduling lunch and coffee breaks. These breaks soon lead to long e-mail exchanges and finally, their first date at BLT in downtown Washington DC. It was here that sparks flew and both quickly realized that there was something extraordinary about the other.

They love spending time together. They especially enjoy long runs and be active. They love running along the Potomac River and the monuments. Vikas and Tara also love curling up to a good Hindi movie with a cup of chai!

Vikas and Tara are now in the midst of planning an elegant wedding! We are so excited to take part in one of the most special days of your lives! We had such a blast with you two during your Engagement Session in Washington DC. We cannot wait until your big day!

Rarely do we agree to conduct photo shoots outside of the wedding market. Not because we do not necessary want to but because during wedding season, there simply is not enough time. But after one look at Ena and Vishal’s son, Aarav, we simply could not resist. Aarav is absolutely adorable and is such a fun and easygoing baby! We traveled to Aarav’s grandparent’s home in Great Falls, Virginia and managed to take some awesome pictures of him and his family. Aarav was born on Saturday, October 10th at 5:30pm. He weighed 5 lbs and 10 oz and was born at Reston Hospital in Virginia. As Aarav blissfully played with his favorite toy, his Pooh Bear rattle, we snapped away! It was so much fun keeping up with him as he crawled on his deck as the sunlight shined in his face and brightened his smile. At the tender age of 7 months, Aarav is already a diehard Redskins fan and loves the colors blue and green. He is definitely following in his proud Uncle, Atul’s footsteps!

It was an absolute delight to photograph baby Aarav and his family! We look forward to photographing you in the years to come as you grow older!
