Aarav Turns 1!

Aarav is one of the cutest kids we’ve ever photographed. You may remember his adorable face from his first photo shoot, when he turned six months old. He’s a fireball of energy, amazingly well behaved and always happy!

When we were asked to photograph his First Birthday Party we were ecstatic! Normally when you think of a birthday party for a one year old you think of cake, balloons, and toys. To say Aarav’s first birthday was any old normal party would be a huge understatement, I don’t think my 21st birthday could have topped this extravaganza! From a professional face painter and balloon maker to Curious George, yes, Curious George, this first birthday party was amazing! In addition to Curious George, Aarav ensured all his friends had plenty of carnival games and toys to play with. A DJ kept the adults entertained, as the wonderful food and drinks flowed bountifully. The decor, favors, and food were adorable and so well coordinated! But no party is complete without a cake and the birthday cake was delicious!

Surrounded by friends and family, Aarav joyfully celebrated his birthday by sticking his head and face in birthday cake #1. Yum! Birhtday cake #2 was hands and face free.

Football!!!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… NFL FOOTBALL SEASON HAS BEGUN!

The fantasy football picks are in, last minute trades are final and the intense rivalry has just begun! We love love love football season. Not just because we love the sport but primarily because the fun rivalry that intensifies between us. See, Neeva is obsessed with the Denver Broncos and my loyalty lies with the Washington Redskins or really whichever team plays the Broncos that week (Go Chargers!). I love seeing the fiery excitement in her eyes and her victory dance when her team wins(seldom, but it does happen). The season brings us together as we watch 9 consecutive hours of football on a given Sunday when we have the time!

We can’t wait for the tailgates at the FedEx Field parking lot, grilling steaks and tailgating for hours. Ahh, it really is the absolute best time of the year!

Here’s to more nights of hot wings and beer, great football games and spending quality time together while watching our favorite game.

Go Skins!!!…and Broncos(and whoever plays them)!

Food Therapy

It’s therapeutic actually, a moment in time that makes you realize that all the stresses and worries of the day aren’t as large as you imagined them to be; that all the problems you’ve labored over for hours have solutions and easy fixes. During the thirty minute or so of therapy each day we laugh, catch up, gossip, hold hands and just enjoy each others company. My therapy is called lunch; with my business partner, best friend and girlfriend. The 30 minutes that we are under each others spell is all one needs to realize that stress will go away, issues will be resolved and love will triumph all.

New Photography Toys

So our goal this year was simple. Make our clients extremely happy and take some amazing pictures to boot (always wanted to say ‘to boot’). It’s not rocket science, not as astonishing as Google’s, GM’s or Apple’s yearly goals, but it is simple; to the point, and exactly what we wanted to do. Make our clients extremely happy and take some amazing pictures to boot . We’ve tried to do a lot to make our customers happier, faster turn-around, better processing but the burning fire in my chest, the one thing I want to do more than anything else is to get fantastic pictures. To get great pictures we maxed out the plastic and bought a few toys

One tool a.k.a. my new toy is the 85mm 1.4 lens. It is an amazing lens that takes great pictures in low light situations such as dark churches, bridal suites without windows and mood lit reception rooms. The bokeh on this lens is gorgeous, allowing for a sharp foreground picture and great bokeh in the background.

Another lens we just bought is a 60mm 2.8 macro lens. It is an amazing lens to get details shots such as rings, shoes and cake details (yes, it’s all about the bride). Basically the lens works like a microscope, making everything the lens sees extremely large with immaculate details. It also works as a great portrait lens with sharp corners.

The last toy we bought was a new go boda bag (no clue where the name came from), although we have our huge 500 pound wedding bag that we take everywhere. We also bought a boda bag to move around with multiple lenses inconspicuously. Great examples would be during Indian ceremonies where moving around the mandap is necessary but difficult to do so with multiple lenses or during the first dance when we want to get the overall dancing pictures as well as the close-up pictures. The bag is simply great, it straps directly to your hip and holds up to five lenses, but the bag is great because it opens up quickly and allows lenses to be switched in seconds.
