So during WPPI I was lucky enough to sign up for a ‘Trash the Dress Shoot,’ the premise of these types of shoots is the bride making a powerful statement. That instead of packing up the beautiful dress in a bag to be discarded in the back of her closet or somewhere in the attic, she will make a statement, to trash the dress because she will never have to wear it again, she has found the love of her life, and she can burn the dress for all it matters because her prince charming will ALWAYS be her prince charming.

Well during this shoot, we were planning on jumping in pools, rolling on the ground and skipping up and down the strip. Unfortunately due to flash floods and schedule conflicts we weren’t able to do all the cool stuff, but in the short 45 minutes we had to shoot, we did get some amazing stuff, take a look

‘Trash the dress’ is a statement, as a Washington DC Wedding Photographer a statement that is not heard enough. But a wonderful statement of love that signifies the brides utter devotion to her husband. Her understanding that she will never need; nor wear a wedding dress again, and because of that, the dress can be burned, drowned, buried or destroyed. And when you add a photographer to the mix he might try to do all four! Unfortunately we couldn’t get the zoning permits to burn the dress so we tried to drown, bury and destroy it instead! Hope you all enjoy the pictures!
