Wedding Planning Wednesday: Getting those Blue Suade Shoes.

Your wedding events are hectic! Between the ceremony, posing for pictures, greeting guests, and dancing, you will be spending a lot of time on your feet! Through all the excitement, you may temporarily forget about the comfort of your feet; however, it is important that your shoes are as comfortable as possible, as well as look amazing. Getting the right balance between beauty and comfort – that’s the key to choosing the wedding shoes for you! Check out some of our bridal shoe tips below!

Selecting Your Shoes

Nothing ruins an outfit more than the wrong shoe. Select a shoe that is consistent with the style and feel of your gown, and a heel height that you are comfortable wearing and that is appropriate for your height. Most importantly, choose a shoe you’ll love wearing!

If you’re having a beach wedding or another type of outdoor wedding ceremony or reception, remember that stiletto heels tend to sink into soft ground like sand or grass, and should be avoided. A wedge, square heel or even a flat or beaded flip flop are all good choices to consider.

Some brides are concerned with spending a lot of money on a pair of shoes they will wear only once. If you can find a comfortable inexpensive shoe, definitely grab it, but keep in mind, that you can always wear a fabulous party shoe. And, it’s your wedding day-splurge!!!

Remember to bring your shoes to your dress fittings!! If you are having your dress made from scratch or fitted by a dressmaker you should bring your shoes to every fitting so your hemline will end up the right length!

Shoe Colors and Styles!

If you love fashion you will want shoes that compliment your dress and express your style. There are so many fabulous evening shoes this season providing a fantastic selection of shoes that the bride & wedding party can enjoy wearing for many occasions after the wedding.

Daring brides are now stepping out in vivid reds, blues, greens and yellows, while many are selecting soft pinks, pale blues, champagne, silver or gold. Soft pastels, silver and gold are fabulous options as they compliment all shades of gowns, add an element of surprise, and they can be worn again for special occasions or nights on the town. Even for the traditional bride, silver, gold and soft pastels are a great option, as these colors eliminate the challenge of matching difficult to match shades of white or ivory.

Break ‘em In!

Break your shoes in. Wear them inside and gradually increase the wear periods. If you’re not used to wearing heels or even if you are, there are many shoe products available that will make your shoes more comfortable.

A spare perhaps? Many brides buy a second pair of more comfortable wedding shoes to change into later in the day. This is a great idea for those who plan to let their hair down, but if your dress is long you should ensure that your comfortable wedding shoes have a similar-height heel to your first pair. Otherwise you risk your wedding dress getting dragged along the floor and trampled on.

Similar rules and tips apply when shopping for your groom’s shoes. Keep in mind suit color, styles and comfort. Men’s shoes require just as much upkeep as women’s shoes. General tips for upkeep are as follows:

Top Tips for shoe care.

* Try to wear your shoes in dry conditions for the first few occasions.

* Always use a shoehorn when stepping into your shoes.

* Always clean shoes regularly by cleaning off any surplus dirt with a brush or damp cloth.

* For leather shoes apply a quality shoe polish or cream and buff off with either a dry cloth or a brush.

* For suede shoes brush up the nap with a suede brush.

* For Nubuck shoes wipe with a cloth dipped in slightly soapy, warm water.

* If shoes are wet let them dry naturally away from direct heat as quality calf leather shoes require a slow natural drying process.

* The use of a shoe tree is recommended as it will help to retain the shape of the shoe.

Remember, comfort is key but style is also crucial for your big day!
